Jon L. Cochran

A former Eastern District and Third Circuit law clerk, Jon has amassed experience in a wide variety of sophisticated trial-court and appellate matters including partnership, real estate and contract disputes, employment and ERISA litigation, governmental investigations, defamation and constitutional claims.

Jon was part of a team of lawyers representing Pennsylvania state and county election officials in litigation concerning the 2020 presidential election. He was also part of the team that obtained the watershed victory in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court holding that school districts may not discriminate against commercial properties in filing reverse assessment appeals.

Jon thrives on complexity, but just as important, he brings a big-picture vision and a commitment to practicality. He has achieved successful results at hearings, binding arbitrations, mediations, and on appeal.

Jon is president-elect of the Board of the Homeless Advocacy Project, a legal services organization that provides advocacy and representation to homeless individuals and families. Jon has represented dozens of HAP clients in a wide variety of matters and has also represented clients in civil rights litigation as part of his very active pro bono practice.

A frequent practitioner in Pennsylvania’s trial and appellate courts, Jon co-authored several chapters on discovery and summary judgment in Pennsylvania Civil Discovery and Pennsylvania Civil Pre-Trial Practice edited by the Honorable Daniel J. Anders and Bobby Ochoa, III.

Prior to joining LeVan Muhic Stapleton, Jon was a shareholder at Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller.
